Home of the 2008 Open US Icosathlon Championships

20 in 2: The Icosathlon, (also referred to as the Double Decathlon) is a track and field competition in which the athlete must complete all twenty track and field events over two days (which includes completing a standard decathlon in addition to the ten other events,) scoring points using IAAF scoring formulas and new formulas for the 10 additional events.  It is a grueling test of an athlete's endurance, specific technical skill, explosive strength, jumping and running ability.

Dimitry's Full Recap of the 2005 Double Dec.

The 2008 USA Open Championships are tentatively scheduled to be held in Northern California in late August/early September.  Check back here for more information soon, and meanwhile, use the forum to discuss this meet, voice your thoughts and suggestions, and communicate with fellow athletes and supporters.

Update: I now have official and unofficial commitments from a few different host facilities - now I just have to pick the best candidate.  Things I am strongly considering are; cost, proximity to airports, weather, facility quality (rings, pits, track), timing system, and the amount of help I am likely to get.  Unofficially, a strong candidate is Santa Rosa Junior College, as their interest is high and Ron Whitney, the head coach for the track program, is very supportive.  At the very least, the meet will have FAT, an all-weather track and runways, and decent hurdles (no wood - ouch!)  The weather in Santa Rosa, the available dates (August 14-18) and it's distance from SFO, our main airport, (63 miles) are the only drawbacks.
